vitroplena provides a glass dome with a waterfall hanging from it to the Belgian Pavilion
From April 13th to October 13th 2025, Japan hosts the World Expo 2025 at Osaka. After winning the design contest for the Belgian pavilion, Carré7 architecture commissioned vitroplena to design and engineer a glass dome, located above the entrance hall of the building, with the following key features:
The result? A custom modular minimalistic steel structure was engineered, also able to carry the permanent weight of the waterfall ring, which follows a hexagonal shape. Care was put into the visual transparency of the dome, making sure that a minimum amount of steel is visible when looking through the dome in any direction. On top of this steel grid, insulated triangular glass panels are mounted and fixed with demountable fixing profiles.
We are excited to see the final pavilion and gladly welcome you at Osaka in 2025!
