glass dome - Knokke

"place Matuvu" Knokke receives an underground parking lot with a real eye catcher at ground level: a glass dome designed by Samyn & Partners. 

Commissioned by Jan De Nul and BEMECO, vitroplena performed structural engineering calcs on the glass dome, composed of a minimalistic custom made steel grid which is effectively stabilized by triangular glass panels, adhesively bonded on the steel rods. Hence a glass stabilized steel dome in which both materials beautifully collaborate in a structural way
