design review of protective glass dome and artwork on top of the stained glass dome
The city hall of Antwerp is among other aspects characterised by a heritage stained glass dome. The latter is protected by constructing a glass dome on top of it. The modern glass dome received a dynamic touch with an additional glazed artwork.
Commissioned by the dome contractor, vitroplena performed a design review on the protective glass dome and artwork to optimize the glass thickness of the glazing panes. A reduction in glass thickness was possible, resulting in an economic optimisation for this project.
