adhesively bonded glass fins

4.1 m glass fins adhesively bonded to the façade

In cooperation with architect Steven De Jaeghere, vitroplena designed and engineered 4.1 m glass fins. Through the application of structural adhesives and considering the installation phase in the design, a highly efficiënt, esthetic and economic results was achieved.

The application of adhesive bonding and cutting-edge FEM calculations enabled the glass fins to be produced of annealed glass laminates. The adhesive bonding of the fins into the stainless steel U-profiles was performed in the shop after which the fins were simply bolted-connected on site.

The array of fins renders a greenish colour. When you approach the building, a green cloud appears which highlight the destination - a pharmacy - and location of the building!
